When you contact us. If you use the contact form or email us, we collect your name, your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message.
When you visit the site. Like any website, our hosting provider records technical information about each request, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view, to deliver the site and keep it secure. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
We do not intentionally collect special category data, such as health information. Please do not send us details of your own or anyone else's medical condition through the site.
We use contact details and messages to reply to you and to deal with your enquiry, whether you are a researcher, a clinician, a potential partner or an investor. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries about the company and its work, and, where you ask us to take steps before entering into an agreement, the performance of a contract.
We use technical data to operate the site securely and to prevent misuse, on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a safe and reliable website.
We will not use your details for marketing unless you have asked us to, and we never sell personal data.
We keep enquiries and correspondence for as long as needed to deal with them and for up to two years after our last contact with you, unless a longer period is needed to meet a legal obligation or to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.
Hosting and security logs are kept by our providers for short periods in line with their own retention policies.
We share personal data only with providers who help us run the site and handle correspondence, and only as far as they need it: Netlify, Inc., which hosts the site and processes contact-form submissions; Google, which serves the fonts the site uses and so receives your IP address when a page loads; and our email provider, which delivers correspondence.
Some of these providers are based in, or process data in, the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on an adequacy decision, including the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider participates in it, or on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
We may also disclose personal data where the law requires it, or to professional advisers under a duty of confidentiality.
You have the right to ask for access to the personal data we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it, erase it, or restrict how we use it. You have the right to object to our use of it where we rely on legitimate interests, and, in some circumstances, to receive it in a portable form.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@ecmeratherapeutics.com. We will respond within one month. There is normally no charge.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please tell us first so that we can try to put it right.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last changed.
